The Global Trafficking Prevention Fund
Working to address prevention, rescue, rehabilitation and advocacy efforts
The Global Trafficking Prevention Fund works to address prevention, rescue, rehabilitation and advocacy efforts. Among the programs in the Fund are those addressing the practice of forcing young Ghanaian boys – like those pictured here – to work long hours at dangerous jobs in the fishing industry.
“Trafficking” is the term used to describe modern-day slavery, a 21st century epidemic.
Across the world, men, women and children are forced into labor and prostitution. Boys are enslaved as brainwashed child soldiers. Women and children in the world’s poorest nations are the most likely to be enslaved. This Fund seeks to address the underlying causes of trafficking, to rescue and rehabilitate victims, and to advocate for their legal protection. It lobbies for the creation and enforcement of laws to prevent trafficking.
From young boys forced into Ghana’s Lake Volta fishing industry, to the young women enslaved in the sex trade in impoverished northern India, to child soldiers forced to fight in Northern Uganda, this Fund empowers local heroes working courageously to prevent trafficking and to bring freedom and dignity to victims.
Minimum Investment: $5,000
