Supporting Education and Resilience for Children in Ethiopia: ECHO RISE and IHOPE Projects

Geneva Global is supporting two EU-funded initiatives in Ethiopia — ECHO RISE and ECHO IHOPE — bringing protective education and resilience-building to children and communities affected by conflict and displacement.

We are proud to highlight Geneva Global’s contribution to two initiatives — ECHO RISE in Oromia and ECHO IHOPE in Amhara — designed to strengthen education and resilience for children and communities affected by conflict and displacement in Ethiopia.

The ECHO RISE project, implemented in the  West Wollega Zone of Oromia Region and West Gojjam Zone of the Amhara Region, is a two-year initiative under the Resilience Inclusive Schooling in Ethiopia consortium. Led by People in Need Ethiopia in partnership with the Center of Concern, and funded by EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid, ECHO RISE focuses on Education in Emergencies (EiE) and reinforcing resilience for children and communities.

Meanwhile, the ECHO IHOPE project — Integrated Humanitarian Operation for Protective Education — responds to the urgent needs of the most vulnerable internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities West Gojjam Zone of Amhara Region This consortium-led initiative, funded by EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid and led by Plan International, brings together government stakeholders and partners to ensure vulnerable children have access to protective and quality education.

Both projects exemplify collaborative efforts to provide lifeline support, education, and resilience-building for vulnerable children and communities in Ethiopia.
