The Position
As a Senior Manager on the Grants and Governance Solutions team, you’ll help to strengthen the quality, consistency, and compliance of GIV’s grantmaking. This means partnering with your team to develop and steward organization‑wide grantmaking standards, cross‑border compliance practices, and unified systems that ensure every grant is strategic, compliant, and high‑quality. Working on advisory support on grant design, governance, program development, implementation, and evaluation, you’ll be enhancing client outcomes and elevating grantmaking excellence across the organization.
You’ll operate with clarity, confidence, and a genuine commitment to creating a collaborative team environment. This role provides daily guidance and support, project‑based feedback, and direct management to team members.
We’re seeking a candidate who demonstrates abilities in these areas in order to support Client Advisory & Complex Grant Delivery:
- Supporting the design of grant structures, program strategies, MEL frameworks, and governance models that strengthen client decision‑making and implementation
- Conducting research, analysis, due diligence, and risk assessments that inform strategic recommendations to clients
- Drafting high‑quality client deliverables — including memos, frameworks, evaluations, and strategic options — grounded in evidence and practical implications.
- Coordinating consultants, partners, and internal contributors to ensure aligned, high‑quality execution across workstreams
- Identifying operational, programmatic, or governance issues and elevating risks early with recommended solutions
- Supporting organizational development and transition projects — including entity formation, spin‑offs, and operational readiness — through analysis, documentation, and structured workstream management
- Critical thinking and analytical skills to execute on project deliverables for clients
- Strong communication skills, through writing/editing and/or facilitation
- A positive, team-centric attitude and willingness to both lead and support the team to complete long-term projects and meet short-term client needs in a fast-paced environment
- A demonstrated track record of effective leadership and people‑management skills
- An ability to build new client relationships and thoughtfully strengthen and grow existing ones to advance business development goals
Qualifications
- High emotional intelligence, demonstrated by building rapport with colleagues and clients
- 6-10 years of experience in philanthropy, grant management, international development, or related fields
- Experience managing and supporting professional services projects and deliverables, including contributions to program design, evaluation/MEL, strategic planning, governance structures, and grant/programmatic operations
- Experience supporting the development or implementation of grantmaking systems, tools, templates, or operational processes including documentation, guidance, and training to ensure usability, adoption, and data quality
- Demonstrated ability to project manage — including scoped tasks, timelines, coordination, and synthesis — within complex or multi‑stakeholder engagements
- Proficiency with a range of technology tools, including strong skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and visualization, as well as familiarity with project management, collaboration, and CRM platforms desired.
- A bachelor’s degree or higher is required for this role
To help you determine whether this role is the right fit, it is important to be clear about what it does not involve:
- This is not a travel‑heavy role. Domestic travel is minimal, and there is no international travel
- This is not an on‑the‑ground implementation role. You will not be working directly with grantees, running programs, or conducting field visits.
