Geneva Global’s Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Committee condemns these acts of hate filled violence and in light of these tragedies, we asked ourselves what we can do to support AAPI communities in the United States. We believe we can learn and act with our voices and our money. We also fully support this collective statement – A Call for Solidarity and Collective Action: Asian American Philanthropy Letter of Intention – and look forward to centering the priorities outlined here as a core part of our work.

Local, Philadelphia-Based Organizations
Asian Americans United (AAU), a Philadelphia-based organization since 1985, exists so that people of Asian ancestry in Philadelphia can exercise leadership to build their communities and unite to challenge oppression. AAU’s arts and culture work creates social change through engaging community members in realizing their artistic and creative potential and building pride in cultural heritage.
Asian Arts Initiative (AAI) connects cultural expression and social change to use art as a vehicle to explore the diverse experiences of all communities which include Asian Americans. Located in Philadelphia’s Chinatown North, AAI is a multidisciplinary arts center offering exhibitions, performances, artist residencies, youth workshops, and a community gathering space.
National Organizations
Stop AAPI Hate, a coalition formed in March 2020, addresses anti-Asian hate amid the pandemic. The organization runs a reporting center that tracks and responds to incidents of hate, violence, harassment, and discrimination against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States.
Asian Americans Advancing Justice has been working to advance civil and human rights for Asian Americans since 1991. Its Anti-Asian Hate program raises awareness about racism and discrimination, provides resources and support for affected communities, and leads bystander intervention trainings for allies.
The Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund, building on more than 40 years of fighting against hate and violence, assists individual victims of anti-Asian violence through a combination of litigation, advocacy, education, and organizing.
The National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum is focused on building the collective power of Asian American and Pacific Islander women and girls and elevating them to impact policy and drive systemic change in the United States. The organization fights for reproductive health and rights, economic justice, immigrant rights, and racial justice.
The Asian Mental Health Collective promotes and de-stigmatizes mental health within the Asian American and Pacific Islander community by making mental health care easily available, approachable, and accessible.
