Assefa brings over 30 years of field experience to his role as an Education Program Assistant for the Geneva Global Ethiopia team. In his role he supports the Geneva Global Ethiopia’s education team with the collaborating partner trainings and assisting the collaborating partners with applying the Speed School programs in their local communities. Assefa’s work is important to the success of Speed Schools as each training Assefa ensures collaborating partners meet the quality standards set by Geneva Global Ethiopia for the Speed School program. Assefa’s passion for working at Geneva Global Ethiopia is driven by supporting out of school children to access education that can change their lives.
Before Geneva Global, Assefa worked across the education sector as a School Director and District Supervisor. He also served as a Zone Adult & Non-formal Education Expert and Zone Head of Administration & Finance Head and as a regional teacher’s development program coordinator in the Oromia Education Bureau. Assefa’s love for teaching began as a high school student when he tutored industry employees in a free nightly service program. After this experience, Assefa joined the teacher’s training institute to become an elementary school teacher. Assefa trained across Ethiopia focusing on educational structures, school supervising, and course curriculum development tailored to the local context.
