Ask me about:

Education systems management, accelerated education programs, and community engagement

Benjamin has dedicated his career to supporting children in Uganda access high-quality education. As a Program Officer in Uganda’s Eastern Namutumba district, Benjamin works with education stakeholders to help out-of-school children access education through Geneva Global’s Speed School program. With these stakeholders, Benjamin is responsible for the coordination, monitoring, and implementation of the Speed School programs.

Before joining Geneva Global Uganda, Benjamin worked across various levels of the education system in Uganda. Starting his career as a secondary school teacher in central Uganda, Benjamin then moved into working with children in need to rekindle their passion for education. Benjamin worked in Uganda’s West Nile region to support children who were struggling academically largely due to the COVID-19 pandemic with Mott Macdonald. He also worked with Windle International Uganda to support refugee children to access inclusive, quality education in a supportive learning environment. These experiences fostered his passion for education which now continues in his work with Geneva Global to provide high-quality education programs to children across Uganda.

Who or what has inspired you to do the work you do?

Seeing the positive impact my work has on vulnerable communities both motivates and inspires me to continue with my work. I started working in development eight years ago and I am rewarded every year, helping people realize their potential, dream bigger, and become contributors to their communities. Each time I finish a project I think to myself, “who else can I support?” There’s a sense of satisfaction each time I work on a project.

What three words would you use to describe your colleagues?

Compassionate, self-motivated, and innovative

What’s your best travel advice?

Research before you go visiting. Learn about the security, social life, weather, etc, of the place you intend to travel to. You do not want to get stuck in any unexpected situations that you have not budgeted for.

What brings you joy?

A good book. Give me a good book and I will be happy to get lost in its pages for hours.
