Ask me about:

Conducting effective support supervision to teachers; activity-based learning approach; and making and using appropriate low or no cost learning aids during the teaching and learning process.

Combining his expertise in early age reading and 25 years working in education, Samuel works closely with Speed School programs to increase children’s access to foundational learnings. As a Program Officer with Geneva Global Uganda, Samuel oversees the technical management, development, and implementation of the Speed School programs.  Samuel works closely with Speed School facilitators and Self-Help Groups to train individuals on how to best implement the programs and support Speed School learners in Uganda’s Mayuge district. Through these trainings and supervising implementation, Samuel evaluates and informs on areas of potential improvement for the programs. Samuel’s loves working at Geneva Global because it provides out-of-school children with access to education and facilitators with tools to incorporate activity-based learning into the classroom.

Samuel holds a bachelor’s degree in development studies from Nkumba University, a teacher education diploma from Kyambogo University, and certificates in administrative officers law from Makerere University and a grade 11 teaching certificate from from Namatumba Primary Teacher’s College. Samuel has worked across the education sector as a tutor in a teaching college and as a teacher. These experiences equipped Samuel with knowledge of the dynamics and challenges in Uganda’s education system. Samuel moved into the education programming space supporting various international development organizations such as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Samuel worked on USAID’s Integrated Child and Youth Development project focused on early education reading and retention. He also supported USAID’s Literacy Achievement and Retention Activity where he trained community change agents to support their children’s learning.

Why did you decide to work at Geneva Global?

I wanted to work at Geneva Global so I could be a part of an organization that addresses the needs of Uganda’s most vulnerable children through activity-based learning. Through my many years in the education sector, I believed I could share valuable skills, experiences, and knowledge that align with Geneva Global’s mission.

What book, film, or quote has shaped the way you think?

The quote that shaped the way I think is “Whatever your life’s work is, do it well” by Dr. King David Smooke.

What brings you joy?

Accomplishing my personal goals and seeing the positive impact my actions have on others brings me joy.

What countries would you like to visit?

I have yet to travel to any other countries. However, I hope to go to Ethiopia to witness their successful Speed School programs. I also hope to travel to UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris, France to connect with education experts, learn about global policies, and collaborate with fellow education professionals.
