Ask me about:

Dynamic leadership and partnerships; team management and cross-cultural communication; and risk mitigation and problem solving

Sileshi comes to Geneva Global with 18 years of working international, government, and local organizations focused on emergency and development programming. As Geneva Global Ethiopia’s Regional Program Manager for Ethiopia’s Amhara region, Sileshi guides and oversees the implementation of the Speed School program, particularly the Education in Emergencies (EiE) efforts, in the region. Sileshi manages all aspects of implementation such as recruiting collaborating partners, training all collaborating and government partners, coordinating implementation with the Geneva Global Ethiopia-Amhara team, and improving the EiE and Speed School implementation.

Sileshi has dedicated his career to working in the emergency and development sector serving internally displaced populations and children in need. He has worked with international organizations such as the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the European Union, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Throughout his career, he has honed his skills in monitoring and evaluation, stakeholder management, and capacity building. This has led him to work at Geneva Global where he loves being able to apply his skills and experience to help children access critical education resources in challenging environments.

Why did you decide to work at Geneva Global?

I decided to work at Geneva Global because I was inspired by the Speed School’s holistic approach to implementation. I love that the program provides an accelerated education to out-of-school children and supports mothers and caregivers through Self-Help Groups that equip the family with new resources to support their students.

Who or what has inspired you to do the work you do?

I am constantly inspired by all the amazing work of my Geneva Global colleagues. I am always learning from my fellow Geneva Global Ethiopia team members and from the Geneva Global Uganda team’s efforts. It is inspiring to work across a global team united by the same mission to increase access to quality education for children in need.

What three words would you use to describe your colleagues?

Community, Family, Collaborative

What brings you joy?

The whole Geneva Global team brings me joy each day I come to work.
